About
Mrs. Miller:
Mrs. Miller is originally from Denver, Colorado. She moved to the DMV area in 2018 so that her husband could attend Dental School at Howard University. Mrs. Miller has a bachelors degree in Elementary Education and a masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an Emphasis in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education. She received both degrees at The University of Colorado, Denver. She has taught 4th, 3rd and 2nd grade, and has been a Somerset Super Squirrel since November 2o18. Mrs Miller loves Starbucks, Target, her husband and dog, sunshine, hiking, skiing, and playing tennis. She also loves teaching and is passionate about bringing mindfulness into the classroom.

MS. Ward:
This is Ms. Ward’s tenth year in MCPS and fourth year at Somerset. She grew up in Olney Mill and went to Sherwood High School. After high school, she attended Shippensburg University on a softball scholarship and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. To further her growth as an educator, she enrolled in graduate school and earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. Ms. Ward is a BIG fan of collaboration and teamwork. She wants to make sure her students feel a sense of community within the classroom.

When she isn’t teaching, Ms Ward loves to hang out with her two sisters and all six of her nieces and nephews! She also loves watching movies, being by the water, shopping, pranking Mrs. Miller, traveling, and spending time with friends.
